Huawei 5G Vision
A few companies and countries are hip to 5G because of what they have to offer like more data of course and usage in the virtual world so with Huawei getting their ideas will make it more interesting.

Re: Huawei 5G Vision
I recently started doing some work for a Robotics Automation Software company and am learning that the implementation of 5G is critical to facilitate interaction and interoperability of humans and robots especially in factories and warehouses: “The fifth generation of wireless technology will pave the way for a new generation of robots, some free to roam controlled via wireless rather than wired communications links and exploiting the vast computing and data storage resources of the cloud. Armed with these capabilities, robots can be precisely controlled dynamically in near real time, and be connected to people and machines locally and globally. In short, 5G will fully enable applications such as the "factory of the future" and many, many others that were previously beyond the capabilities of both cellular and robotics technologies.” Source: Mouser.com

Re: Huawei 5G Vision
@vneman that fits perfectly with what Ron Marquardt, Vice President of Technology, Sprintwrote here  last December:

We will see that 5G will really drive a whole new set of use cases beyond the smartphone that have not been possible before. For example, in the case of cloud robotics the intelligence of the robot is located in the cloud, while the body of the robot carrying the mechanical functionality can be somewhere else. They would be linked together by 5G-based wireless connectivity.

Re: Huawei 5G Vision
There is apparently a name for this combination of robotics, cloud computing, and 5G: “The Robotics Renaissance” - a term coined by Swedish infrastructure vendor Ericsson.

That is amazing. I hadn't considered 5G and robots but it makes sense. Using the cloud, 5G and wireless technology with robots is awesome. Plus IoT and AI are used with robots. I am curious if security will be implemented in robots or will they eventually run wild like the movie "I, Robot".

I am always curious how people create new terms like robotics renaissance. It is so interesting. Robotics renaissance with help increasing affordability of robotics technology. It can also help small business owners and startups become more competitive.

5G and Robotics
Companies have jobs that they are not filling due: to greed, corruption, stagnant wages, increaesed work loads. Renaissance robotics can help the job market but I don't believe it will increase skilled labor. I believe it will decrease skilled labor.

With millions of people still unemployed and underemployed, these numbers will increase as the usage of robots increases.

Jobs will change but that change will have multiple outcomes: employees will learn new skills, employees will quit, or employees will be laid off.

This will have a cripple effect on the economy and will increase unemployment. This will result in more crime across the country and affect employees ability to make retirement account contributions.

Amazon.com uses 100,000 robots in their warehouses. If you shop with Amazon you may have noticed that your orders are processed faster, shipped faster and you receive your order in less time.

I order from Amazon and in the past it could take up to 2 weeks to receive an order. Now it takes less than one week to process, ship and deliver the order. I suspect this is due to the M&A or Amazon and Whole Foods. Amazon wants to streamline processes, reduce operational costs and increase profit. Robots help them meet  those goals. Amazon claims that it still hires employees in addition to using robots. Curious to see how long that trend lasts.

Re: 5G and Robotics
We are already seeing it as unskilled jobs across the world are being replaced by computers. I saw it in Spain when the entire McDonalds was running with two employees. One of my local McDonald's just added the kiosks but they were still fully staffed. I was just thinking that the old "McDonald's is always hiring," idea is a thing of the past thanks to automation.
