Re: For My Money...
@mpouraryan, thanks! It has to, the other is unrealistic. Plus, we can't have more idle people and the good ones being trained sitting by. That would create social upheaval! So we will all keep our eyes on reality and work together to make it so!
Re: For My Money...
Thanks for the thoughts @DHagar. Let's just hope your vision is the reality and is embraced by the frightful five.

Re: For My Money...
@mpouraryan, great review and interesting article - strategy business does great work, as does PWC.
My take: This is certainly the world of possibilities, but I do not think every possibility is going to become a probability. There is cost, politics, social, legal, and labor implications that I believe will ultimately determine the makeup of work in the future.
My vision is that indeed technology will replaced repetitive low value tasks but that you will still require humans to make decisions regarding the use of technology and the results. I see technology as being applied and augmenting human intelligence rather than replacing it.

Re: For My Money...
@batye, makes sense - particularly if the cloud systems offer more robust security and real-time monitoring. That would be highly competitive and would certainly outperform the capabilities most organizations have on their own.

Re: For My Money...
@bayte/@Dhagar: Great discourse--but I wonder what you both think about this as we see the "mid-term" analysis being presented here:

Re: For My Money...
@batye, good prediction! It will increasingly be the backbone for computing. I further believe the markets will expand as companies gain confidence in the security and create a hybrid of in-house systems and external cloud capacity.

Re: For My Money...
@afwriter, I think you are correct with cloud - I see that as becoming a ubiquitous utility. But then, as the article identifies, the combinations as well of virtualization and artificial intelligence will be major drivers and market success in my view.
