Re: IOT Future
@mpouraryan, thanks for sharing - fascinating statistics - I have glanced through and will digest further. But you raise an important point - there is one view from the USA, but the globalization, and economic competition is another matter - as this report points out.
Clearly, the USA places a higher value on the human capital. So one can see in the growing globalization that the temptation to "minimize" human capital may be there, especially with the economic threats.
This definitely is a different perspective and one that competition - leading the way with the strongest economy - will have to sort out. Let's hope we lead the way.
Re: IOT Future
We hope so @bayte--but reality is otherwise.
Re: IOT Future
It seems as if the human element continues to be discounted in this on-going transformation evolution (or revolution) we are witness to. Kurzweil's dream is being realized especially, for instance, as I see this I am trying to get my arms around from one of the leading thinkers on transformation, Mary Meeker: http://www.kpcb.com/internet-trends

Re: IOT Future
@batye, great points! Humans are truly capable of continuing to learn - whereas machines are fed the learning and then catch up. If we keep that in mind, we will get smarter. If we just hold onto what we have learned, then we will be surpassed.

Re: IOT Future
@mpouraryan, indeed. This is more than a philosophical debate, it truly is about taking leadership to ensure that decisions are made up and down the line that are more than expedient, but are thoughtful in balancing accountability, resources, and ultimate execution. That truly requires optimum machine AND human intelligence.
If we don't lead, then we will have no excuse. So thoughtful opinions and education (ie Telco Transformation), keep us focused on the right track. If we choose, we will lead appropriately.
Happy June as well!
