@ms.Akkkeini: No one has a real crystal ball, though. I was reflecting upon this as I saw some stats from Apple, for instance, about how many Apple Watches has shipped and the growth has been at best, Negligible. With the economy slowing as noted by the Guardian just within the past 15 minutes, it will be interesting--to say the least.....

Many thanks @batye--the thing, though, we have to guard against is arrogance. I was thinking about it today as I saw Vinod Khosa, a co-founder of Sun, asking 30 Million to allow folks access to the Beach. A sense of humility with an eye to the future has to be the order of the day.

Ofcourse that is undersatndable. And prior to making any moves that pre work of due dilegence is an absokute must and am sure folks very well spend their time and effort in getting all that done. Analysing market trend based on history data as you pointed out in your example with Apple watches is another key aspect. Then get ready with a forecast model using that history data would be an essential tool towards that decsion making.

@mpouraryan Well, Apple got some stiff competition in the smartwatch category. One of my online friends posted today that he's very much enamored of his Huawei watch for the look of its face and its reasonable price.

Competition is a significant key item that all enterprises have to cope and deal with, no matter how big or small a company is. We never know it may just take one product for a tiny company to become BIG into market and then get into dominant share and focus. That small entity can very well shake the big players completely. What really matters is understanding the consumer nerve and catching with any craving element that seems to be missing part. That would yield to success, just my two centes.

I have invested in a "pebble" and am quite impressed by it--all the key functions at a fraction of the cost. There lies Apple's Challenge as we march on with the transformation process.

The Pebble works with both Android and iPhone? I'm surprised that Apple didn't squash that somehow.

ms.akkineni, I agree. If a company no matter what the size wants to remain competitive they must move towards full or partial virtualization. U.S. companies are more rigid in terms of moving towards newer technology than overseas companies which is unfortunate.
