Re: Silicon Valley roots?
@batye:  yes it is a global village--no question.  But being witness to transformation entails us to be smart, strategic and not, per se, buy into the hype that some of the players may wish to push.    It is up to us to make the call.

As I have been catching up on the latest out of Barcelona thanks to the team, we are truly living in interesting times.      The challenge is to harness this in a way that prserves the human element--no matter what.

Re: Silicon Valley roots?
@batye:  The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.    The dream of coming together and working to transform is something that all must embrace.  That's at the heart of transformation.   As I have underscored, though, as long as the human element is never forgotten.

@mpouraryan:

Sometimes it is during downturns that some of the greatest investments are made....

This is the secret that some enterprenurs would like to consider  and reap maximum rewards. One would never get into enterprenurship if there is scare and/or unwillingness towards risk. Risk goes hand in hand here. How well you think ahead and have your mitigation plan in place is the real key.

Speed and the Cloud
Here again the Cloud is popping up. I think it's safe to ay that the Cloud in't going anywhere and that companies have no choice, but to embrace it. Even though it isn't the most reliable. I was suprised to know that 60% of AT&T in this field is already Cloud based and that their goal is to hit 80%. I had no idea it was that high in the first place.

Also I'm glad to hear that speed is not only important, but a necessity to the company. Speed really is, in my opinion, the biggest factor especially to a lot of customers.
