Re: AT&T's Donovan blew it out of the water
@batye: The key is to not "buy into" the hype per se and truly be smart. Although, for instance, the Verizon announcement on "iOT" is great--the question of standards is a challenge as well.

Re: AT&T's Donovan blew it out of the water
@Ariella: It is not easy by any stretch--the challenge is to create that sense of balance. I would humbly suggest that those who actually are able to figure it out, will be truly at the heart of the transformation we all want and "hopefully" vie for.

@mpouraryan yes, the question of standards is important, particularly when different definitions are attached to certain terms.

Re: AT&T's Donovan blew it out of the water
The challenge is to create a standard that everyone buys into. My fear is that due to the proliferation of initiatives out there (Nest; Verizon; etc.) what is promising (and Business Insider has a report on it about the possibilities) may become even more challenging to sustain for that sense of value that all of us strive for.

Re: AT&T's Donovan blew it out of the water
@mpourayran Indeed. Over time, the industry is forced to agree on a single standard, though that can take a few years.
Re: AT&T's Donovan blew it out of the water
No worries Mike. I am sure you are super occupied over there.
Appreciate the information you provided.Also I reviewed your other post as well.
Price is the driving factor obviously. As you rightly said i can foresee provider companies lining up with their bargains highlighting several options for consumes to choose.
Re: AT&T's Donovan blew it out of the water
@Ariella:
You cut prices to gain market share only to have someone else play the same trick against you....
