Big Data & 5G
I'm all for more data especially when it comes to mobile smartp phones that have and 2-5G then it goes does to 500MB but thts just woth my phone. I know that having more data and 5G it will mek things better and easier as long if you don't have to deal with certain companies that give you a limited amount of data. This will be a great for businesses and be of great service for customers. This will only be better with time.

Re: Big Data & 5G
@clrmoney, I think that is the key - the resulting data. I see 5G as an "enabler" and increased capability to deliver those capabilities. As he stated in the interview, it is not as much the distincive focus as it is the increased capability to deliver these desired services of greater connectivity and value.

C-Level Interest
<On the one hand, suggests Voltolini, 5G is a bit of a red herring; for all of the hype, enterprises care less about 5G itself and its unique capabilities, and care more about general mobility in getting done what they and their IT departments need to get done. On the other hand, 5G will -- eventually -- allow faster connectivity and more agile enablement of cloud transformation.>
This totally makes sense, they can't be looking too far into the future when there is so much competition right now. That being said, you would think that CIOs and CTOs would be reading up on and getting excited about what 5G can do for them.

Re: C-Level Interest
@afwriter, I think that is one of the changes we may see, that the value is seen more in the deliverable capabilities than the technology alone. What I believe that means is that the users, with more reliable services and functionalities, may even value it more than the CIO's that are looking at the pure distinctions in the technology alone.
Also, I believe that CIO's are no longer on top of all the technologies and the added value this can provide. No one can keep up with all the changes.

Re: C-Level Interest
This isn't just about faster connectivity. It's about reliability and building new applications around this concept of 5G. Just being "faster" I think is a misnomer. With things like AI coming via the cloud, intent is going to be a big thing to process for users. This is where I think 5G will play a big role.

Re: C-Level Interest
@dcawrey, I could not agree more. I think that will end up being the real value proposition, the other introductory interests will fade in comparison. It will separate out the carriers and service providers and will require the right platforms, architecture, and deliverables.

Dark Data
Dark data has existed since the first hardware equipment was developed. I remember hearing the network engineer talk about collecting data that they never used or looking at but still had to store on the network servers.

Dark Data and AI
AI can analyze the data, determine if it is useful and determine how to use the data to gain insight on the performance of companies and learn more about their customers to develop products and services.

IoT
This is where AI and IoT play a role. Being able to analyze dark data will help companies make better informed decisions. Dark data may also help companies move in using VR and AR.

Digital Transformation
Digital transformation is occurring whether companies engage in it or not. 5G can definitely help digital transformation. It is interesting that companies don't care about the capabilities of 5G. I would think this would be a major factor when moving to 5G. This is how telco can sell 5G to customers by showing what is can do for them (customers).
