@mhhf1ve, well there you go! I think that is very feasible. I worked with a gentleman over 10 years ago who saw the future as satellites! It might just take a new innovator to reframe what will work.

A Fox and Disney merger would certainly change the media landscape... and might possible set up a further mega-merger for Fox-Disney and a communications company. Comcast already owns NBC. I could imagine Charter or some other CSP wanting to own Fox-Disney.

Satellites in LEO that can be launched cheaply could connect with a mesh network on the ground.. and provide better coverage to both rural areas *and* urban cities. It could potentially be competitive with fiber -- if the spectrum used can handle all the traffic. That's the disruption that may be really necessary: getting wireless frequencies to handle more broadband capacity.
I vaguely remember some far-out research that predicted nearly infinite capacity for wireless transmissions... but the technology for encoding-decoding the transmissions weren't quite ready for commercialization.

To "implicity" build on your thoughts, @SKyNews, for instance, has done a fabulous job with its' work highlighting Plastics in the Ocean and they did one of the best coverages about the President's Decision regarding Israel's Capital (without getting too political)--the point being that James got the "nod" right now--the question is whether he'd emerge from Rupert's Shadow and be his own man....time will tell....

@mpouraryan, very interesting! And true, that is a decision he will have to make and a pathway he will have to choose. Clearly the opportunities are great if he moves into the new horizon and is not captured by the limits of what he has been involved with.

The reporting by DealBook this morning underscored your point on how he was apparently Hamstrung by both his father and his other Brother. The problem, though, is the emerging competition and how it all will "Work itself' Out.
