Re: Streaming video is aiming for where the puck *was*...
Exactly. Mobile broadband won't really be distinctive until it can do what wired broadband can do and more.

@mhh: That's a tall order, considering that wireline is already up to -- what? -- 600G?

Sure, but consider that LTE data rates can get up to 50mbps -- and compare that to a dial up modem line not too long ago or even some existing DSL speeds. Fiber optics are essentially lasers trapped in glass, but if someone can figure out how to get similar performance without needing the optical guide of glass fiber -- we could have some pretty impressive line of sight wireless broadband.

Re: Nice!
The countdown to deliver on VR Streaming has begun and will be on full display at the Olympics in South Korea. Cloud-native technologies help to slice the stream to only what is needed in the field of view of the user. Lots of management issues but not bandwidth.

Re: Nice!
@Kishore - That's awesome! And I would assert that it's genius to limit the field of view to what's actually needed. Especially where the world of sports are concerned, this is certainly important. I have to wonder if there aren't Telco companies that would protest the thought of the United States not attending sheerly based on this information alone.
