@bayte: Happy Monday--why I wonder do you think it is the only solution? It seems as if we have to not settle for just the ordinary--right?

Re: User generated video...
Netflix's business model is somewhat tricky. It has to provide more value than the ever-growing availability of pirated content. With PopcornTime making streaming videos increasingly competitive, it's a real risk to Netflix and any other copyright holder. Presumably, though, most consumers are looking for legit content, and pirated content will never quite be as convenient as getting it straight from the source. However, it seems that Netflix is one of the few media companies to understand this -- and it releases its new series all at once to avoid the piracy problem of competition. Movie release windows will probably be obsolete someday, but only Netflix and a few other studios act like they know it.

Re: Blocking MLM
It is, frankly, the toughest thing--but there is no choice. The idea, for instance, that even phones may be obsolete within the next five years and everything is embedded--curious to see what the TT Community thinks about this--if this is not "Transformation"--not sure what is?

Re: User generated video...
Netflix is doing it at a considerable cost--the question, in Netflix's case, is this--what if the subscribers stop coming? Then what? I stopped--and have not gone back :)

Re: User generated video...
Copying Netflix's strategy of creating or licensing original content that can appeal to mass audiences isn't an easy path. Vimeo recently announced that it was abandoning its plans to copy Netflix and to focus on its prosumer video tools instead. Vimeo made this choice because it saw how much it would need to invest-- and the risk if the shows it bet on turned out to be flops.

On a brief "Prowl" catchin' up with the Community as I saw this...since we're talking "Money"--hope community has time to chime in:

It is the big elephant in the room--isn't it?
