interesting reading it did remind me of my first raspberry PI - trying to replace my old media player :)

It sounds like deep learning tools (and software) really are going to eat the world. Everything is going to be data mined and optimized with intelligence that's beyond human, working 24/7.
Being tracked all the time sounds a little creepy, though....

Re: > The second breakthrough is in algorithms.
mhh1fve, I fully agree that the "value for data" coming from connected data and algorithms is becoming THE distinction. That is where the connections, IoT, data, etc., will become usable and create another layer of user (i.e., decision makers and automated data insight for the consumer).
Along with their excellent "platform" that "hosts" connectivity and data management, they have an excellent model. I also think they are on target with their partnership with Deutsche Telekom.
Their stock should rise!

@DHagar interesting point. I think they took all the right steps... and stock market will see it :)

Mergers
I understand not want to merge with other companies because of the difference among the two and the problems that can surface with the consumers, but I think it would be very helpful with IoT.
I think merging two companies together to create one big, great thing would be such a good option. If this specific IoT doesn't want a merger to help with things that may be lagging I think they might suffer because of it.

Re: Mergers
@dlr5288, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) are not an easy process and take a long time to get approved. An interim step is to setup joint agreements, cross-marketing or MOUs similar to Pepsico and AB InBev and then gradually move towards a merger.

Re: Mergers
Yeah that makes sense, I know it's not an easy process. I think if they're aiming for IoT "supremacy" a merger would be helpful. Even though there are many tasks that would have to be dealt with between the companies. I think in the long run it would be extremely helpful.

Re: Mergers
@dlr5288 yes you maybe right as I do see your point... as result could be negative at the end...
