Re: Maybe not despite, maybe because
There lies the challenge--and we have to maintain our vigilance and sense of purpose--otherwise I will remind all of the "Battlestar Gallatica" scenario I have noted in my comments during our on-going discourse. This is something, for the record, Elon Musk has underscored--I am glad to see I'm not the only one!!

Re: Maybe not despite, maybe because
@mpourarayan I don't think we will ever become subservient to machines, though a lot of people see that outcome with AI. I think we will become too complacent with them. With subservience, a total tech blackout would mean the humans win, with complacency a total technology blackout would probably lead to the end of the human race.

Re: Maybe not despite, maybe because
Yes, Change is the only constant and we have to embrace it no doubt--but we cannot be subservient to Machines--I trust that all the leading lights of Tech will embrace it and never forget it.

Re: Maybe not despite, maybe because
....the challenge is, as I have underscored repeatedly throughout my discourse, is to have a sense of humanity--although Kurzweill puts a good positive spin, the idea of humans being equal to machines is challenging--and that's putting it mildly....

Re: Maybe not despite, maybe because
@mpouraryan I could not agree more, you are soo right in your point of view... as technology changes we must embrace it and change with it...

Re: Maybe not despite, maybe because
..the key is to make sure that Technology is one's friend and partner--not the other way around--which is underscored by the rise of AI--although Kurzweil gives us a more optimstic view as underscored by this I picked up and released to my own personal blog not so long ago:

Re: Maybe not despite, maybe because
As I have been "sounding the alarm", there is also this bit of an "optmistic" note which I hope the community enjoys--we have to remain hopeful no matter what!!
