@freehe  from what I know in Russia you could buy cellphone with option to have install up to three (3) SIM card's to use as separate lines... or even four (4) sims if you have UK model of  LG C299 :)

batye, That is expensive and too much of a hassle. Where is a Verizon Friends and Family Plan for Russia? LOL!

@freehe  they live in sad reality - almost same as North Korea... I do hope one day they will embrace Western Way of life...

@mhhf1ve As inconvenient as that sounds, it almost seems more progressive than in the US, in that they can use multiple SIMS with their phones to access different networks...hasn't it been only fairly recently that wireless carriers needed to allow users to "unlock" devices so they can be used on different networks?  (or am I confusing 2 different issues?)

@faryl  yes and now as in Eastern Europe you could buy already unlocked phones in the store...
