Big Data: 5 KPIs for CableDespite having numerous touch points in homes and businesses, including modems, routers, billing systems and network devices, cable operators haven't fully utilized the data in their legacy systems that has been at their fingertips. With the move towards IP, virtualization and cloud-based networks, cable operators now have the opportunity to collect, analyze and monetize large amounts of information via big data analytics. Big data analytics can improve performance, retain customers and support new revenue-generating services. Big data analytics requires processing, enriching and making sense of the data that is collected in a timely manner, which could be hours or days as opposed to weeks and months. Changing that collected information into useful action items is the end game for the big data analytics transformation that's underway. In order to move beyond the legacy data constraints, cable operators are looking at five key performance indicators (KPIs) for big data analytics, according to a recent Heavy Reading report.
