OpenDaylight Launches Trademark ProgramSEATTLE -- OpenDaylight Summit 2016 -- The OpenDaylight Project took the wraps off of a compliance program on Tuesday that puts its stamp of approval on ecosystem SDN solutions. Individuals or organizations can apply for OpenDaylight's "Powered by ODL" trademark. (See OpenDaylight Launches Compliance Label.) Products that are "Powered by OpenDaylight" need to include specific core components from a recent release of the OpenDaylight code base, as approved by the OpenDaylight board of directors. Those products qualify for the official "Powered by OpenDaylight" logo and product naming rights. "I am thrilled to announce the launch of our 'Powered by OpenDaylight' program," said Neela Jacques, executive director of OpenDaylight . "This marks a turning point representing OpenDaylight's emergence as an industry-wide de facto standard. The program will make it easier for end users to identify OpenDaylight-based solutions that meet their needs and also support our members' contributing to and building products and solutions leveraging the OpenDaylight platform." The first wave of OpenDaylight-based vendors that are slated to receive the new compliance trademark on their products include Brocade, Ericsson, HPE, Inocybe and Serro. Jacques announced the new trademark program during his keynote address at the OpenDaylight Summit in Seattle. He also announced that China Mobile joined OpenDaylight as a new Silver member, which marked continued momentum in China following membership from both Tencent and Alibaba earlier this year.
