An increasingly mobile work force, business expansion, economic growth and Internet of Things (IoT) are driving network virtualization in the Asia Pacific Region, according to a recent report.
In the Asia Pacific region, 64% of the enterprises across 14 markets said they were at some stage of deployment -- including planning, integration and testing -- with NFV. Malaysia, Korea and Thailand were the most advanced NFV markets, according to the IDC report.
Roughly 30% of the organizations were implementing SDN to improve network agility, speed to market and programmability. In Japan, centralized control was the top driver for SDN investments, while lower hardware cost was the top priority in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and India.
The IDC report was commissioned by Ciena Corp. (NYSE: CIEN).
