Re: 5G Replacing Home Services
@mpouraryan - I saw that in an article! Not sure how crazy I am about giving a complete stranger access to my car. Maybe if for whatever reason I absolutely needed a package delivered to my vehicle I would just make sure I was actually present at the vehicle when they delievered it.

Re: 5G Replacing Home Services
..and as I finish off a final visit here, I wanted to "book end" it with this...interesting times we live in no doubt!!

Onward:

Amazon to Deliver Packages to the Trunk of Your Car

What it is: Amazon has partnered with GM and Volvo on its new In-Car Delivery service for Prime members, which launched this week in 37 U.S. cities. Prime members with eligible GM or Volvo cars simply select In-Car Delivery at checkout, and can remotely block access to their cars via the Amazon Key app. Notably, Amazon couriers do not have direct access to the car -- the unlock command is issued through the car's connected systems (i.e. OnStar or Volvo on Call) as part of an authentication process. "We only actually do the unlock if it's the right person, right place, right car, right time," said Peter Larsen, vice president of delivery technology at Amazon, to The Verge.

Why it's important: Amazon Prime customers now have unprecedented control of how and when they receive their goods. What happens to last-mile delivery efficiency when robotics and delivery drone technology can outperform human couriers

Re: 5G Replacing Home Services
@mpouraryan - I theorize that Amazon's latest announcement (that they will be increasing the cost of Prime - again) is a sign that the empire isn't as strong, or impenetrable as they seem to believe. Because they certainly can't continue to hike up my yearly fee and think I'm just going to take it forever. In fact I already wonder if it's worth it. Especially with other services popping up that don't require me to spend so much money a year just to belong to their club.

Satellite
When I saw the satellite images of my house and auto online I stopped being a fan of satellite. I don't like big brother watching me. I learned so much by reading the book Dragnet Nation that discusses the many ways the government and companies capture our information and watch our every move. It is frightening. I will stick with cable.

Re: 5G Replacing Home Services
@elizabethv. Good points. I agree. I don't want any data caps either. I still have cable so hopefully cable doesn't experience any issues in the future. We have fiber optics in my city but not in every neighborhood.

Impact of Data Caps
Advertisers place ads on search engines, apps and websites that stream data such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Data caps may result in a decrease in revenue since most consumers use Google or other search engines to view and search for information.

Data Caps
However, since the repeal of net neutrality, consumers willl probably be subjected to data caps. This will become a huge problem when streaming data especially with big events such as sporting events, political election updates, major natural disasters, major economic events, etc.

@mhhf1ve. I agree. I am not a fan of data caps. I suspect that commercial customers will not have data caps or will have the option to pay more to waive the data caps.

The Path to 5G
I am curious to se the roadmap for each company embarking on 5G. Will companies go from 4G to 4G Cat 4 to 4G LTE to 5G or go straight from 4G to 5G. I am happy with any increase in speed. I currently have 4G LTE is the speed is pretty fast. However, I would love to get faster speeds.
