Re: Graphene is way better than semiconductors
@Shaunn I would say it depends on the hype and how Consumers  and other Co. will take on this idea...

Re: Graphene is way better than semiconductors
@mhhf1ve it depends on the info... few years ago I heard about Russians experementing with new graphite to create some new material... do not recall if it was a diamonds or not...

Re: Future of Technology in Graphics
@clrmoney like always it depends on the price of technology and adoption rate - this days you see 3D everywhere but it took it time to get there...

Graphene
Take it from "research to scalabe production," as Renato said. Wonder how long that will take, although this concept is nothing short of amazing.

Re: Graphene is way better than semiconductors
In other words --> "Graphine is meh. Sorry, not sorry."

What's keeping graphine sheets from becoming reality? Is it possible at all? When do you plan to take a shiny new space elevator excursion?

Re: Graphene is way better than semiconductors
Graphene's potential as a new material is pretty impressive -- but it's still mostly *potential* since it's so far been difficult to make it in the right kind of quantities needed for specific applications. No one has been able to make it into continuous sheets that would be long enough for... say a space elevator (or even more than a few meters).

> "It is the basic structural element of graphite, diamond and charcoal."

Hmm. And that statement is a bit incorrect. I don't think graphene is a structural element of diamond. Diamond is a different allotrope of carbon. There may be graphene impurities in diamonds, but then it's not a structural element of diamond.

Not to be too nitpicky.. but..

Graphene is way better than semiconductors
Absolutley everything about graphene is way better than silicon. Those advantages are night and day. I'm excited to see how graphene will make it to the consumer.

Future of Technology in Graphics
I like this as it relates to graphic design and images because that is somthing I like to do and I'm sure as time go on it will be more amazing things to see and do. I'm already doing 3D images so I familar with that it a way. I aslo think that it will make it usabable for companies that would like to use this technology.
