Re: Edge vs central
Isn't it interesting how homework has shifted online like that? I have found at least one good thing in all the tech: Notes from teachers are soooo much easier to get and read now. Sending a note to a teacher is much easier too.

Re: Edge vs central
Same here. All of the children in my family, especially the youngest, steam video for entertainment when there's nothing else to warrent their attention. Phones and tablets are like tv screens to them. If video is going to keep expanding to meet this increasing demand, it'll be forced into a more suitable structure like edge storage.

Re: Edge vs central
@Joe - I agree. I'm not sure why it would be anything but the top two choices. Outside of those I'd have to wonder if people were either not paying attention or didn't fully understand the poll. As a parent our kids, by-in-large are becoming far more entrenched in computer usage. My 1 year-old can't use my phone, but he knows it's important and he's very curious about it. My 3 year-old has his own tablet that he uses, but he's more than capable of using my phone as well. Despite being a parent who didn't want her kids to be entangled in a world of screens, there really is just no choice. My 5-year-olds reading is entirely on my cell phone. I literally have to hand him my cell phone so he can do homework. If the world of videos and data and data storage are important now, when the majority of adults never even touched a computer until they were in school. How important is all of this going to be when the majority of adults were raised teething on cell phones.

Edge vs central
I'm curious about the points of view driving any option other than "essential" or "useful" here... Almost everything is moving to the edge, and delivery of video -- because of the bandwidth and latency demands -- is crucial to that.

Of course, we are also very gradually approaching the blurring of the edge data center and the central data center as network operators seek to expand their central data center presence globally.
