Digital Transformation Contract
I think that a contract is needed and in order if you only need peeople for specific reasons because people are not hiring like they used to some things they are using with computers or AI which can be flawed at times. I'm all for the digital world and what it has to offer.

We Live in a Weird Time
I am so torn because I appreciate my privacy and don't especially love being bombarded with ads, but at the same time I love my technology (we're and Echo house) and don't mind the occasional "if you like this then you'll like that." We live in a weird time where we want to have our cake and eat it too. To get some of the benefits we enjoy we will have to let these corporations into our homes to some extent.

Re: We Live in a Weird Time
@Batye, that's pretty much how I live my life. I do like to play game with my Amazon Echo though and try to come up with different ways to ask her if Amazon or the Government are listening to my conversations.

This seems like a worthwhile activity :) Have you gotten different replies? Does Alexa seem to understand you're asking the same thing in different ways?

Totally, she responds differently almost every time from explaining that she only listens when you use her name to the fact that she respects your privacy and wouldn't share it with anyone.

Re: We Live in a Weird Time
heh, she's clearly hiding something... Sometimes I wish I had one, but then I remember I want to spend the money on something else and I don't want it listening in (or not) to my daily life. Also, there have been blunders with AWS storage. Amazon can't be immune to the mistakes. They too employ humans, probably.

Re: We Live in a Weird Time
I prefer Siri a bit because it/she probably isn't re-selling my privacy for Apple's profit gain. But then Alexa has more capabilities -- I'm just not sure that those capabilities are *that* useful to me over what Siri can do (or what Siri will be able to do in the future).

@Mhh I feel like Siri has been getting worse over the years. I find myself screaming at my phone and it still doesn't understand what I am saying.

Yes! Siri has definitely gotten worse I feel as the years have went on and on. Even the new iPhones, Siri still isn’t up to par!

That's really unfortunately. I assumed Siri would improve over time. This is very disappointing!

Ahh, the comparison could be what makes the difference. I can imagine the better assistance making the original look Amazon has had the opportunity to study Siri before launching Alexa, after all.

I figured too as the phones have gotten more and more advanced. Hopefully it’s something that can be fixed over time!

@dlr5288  I would think they downgraded Siri they way it look or made less smarter... or give it less A.I. or resources...

Re: We Live in a Weird Time
I think they did as well. The older iPhones had Siri working better, in my opinion, then the new phones. Or maybe it was such a cool new idea to the other phones that it seemed more advanced?

But then again it might mess up your phone and have it go a lot slower. I guess it’s just what you’re willing to risk.

Labor Force
AT&T filled 40% of their 240,000 jobs that were eliminated. What happened to the 144,000 employees whose jobs were eliminated. 40% is a good number but 60% or 70% is an even better number. That has a huge impact of the economy when this is probably occurring at all mid-sized or large-sized companies.

Tight labor markets..?
I'm wondering if STEM degrees are over-rated if a workforce can be "transformed" in a relatively short period of time. I'm pretty sure a majority of CEOs don't have STEM degrees? And world leaders and politicians definitely don't. So where does the demand for STEM education really come from?
