Re: 5G In Olympics
It's certainly a better option than just writing up specs and running hype ads. I'd like to see more practical application type ads for new technologies.

KT 5G
"KT installed 100 cameras at one of the figure-skating venues, so that audiences can use tablet devices to choose the angle from which they want to watch the athletes land their axels and salchows. This "time-slice" approach captures athletes mid-motion from different angles, so that maybe viewers can even tell the complicated jumps apart."

I think most viewers are savvy enough to determine if a jump is complicated without 5G technology. Why does KT think consumers needs technology to confirm what they already know. I am interested to know how many Americans would be interested in this feature for 5G. How many men and how many women. What is the cost for having this service?

5G Olympics
"To demonstrate the additional bandwidth 5G can provide, and the less-than 1 millisecond delay it can offer, KT is delivering live feeds from helmet-mounted cameras on bobsled competitors so that those at the venue can get a real feel for the action. Attendees who are less thrill-driven can use 5G-equipped tablets to switch between different camera located on cross-country skiing route."

Using 5G in this manner results in a niche audience. I have watched some of the olympics and having the ability to view different feeds of an athlete is not appealing to me. How will KT sell this service to consumers. What's the benefit to customers? Why should consumers care about having this ability? Sorry but I'm not sold.

And this is a great example of what marketing calls the “gotcha” moment. Seize that and the technology speaks for and sells itself.

@afwriter It's amazing what 5G can do especially at an event like the Winter Olympics. I wish I could have been there in person to experience the thrill of it all.

I love reading articles like this that point to "tangible" applications of 5G instead of just telling us that 5G will be great.

5G In Olympics
5G is just spreading everwhere but I wasn't sure on on how relevant 5G would be for the Olympics. But maybe is will useful for their companies so whatever it can make money then go for it.
