Simplify 5G
I think that it can be done to make things better so maybe that you should have some alternatives to come up with a solution to make it easier and smoother. I like the 5G Automation which is more data of course and having to do things more automates or automatic makes it easier for us and for businesses to profit off the idea of it all.

Re: Simplify 5G
@clmoney of course, automation increases efficiency and productivity, which benefits any business tremendously.
Re: Simplify 5G
I agree with you
Simplification
I can't express enough about the need of simplification of network technology. I personally think any networking tasks are complicated, may not be for networking folks. But what i mean is for any IT person there has to be a simple way to be able to handle basics with no professional help. Not sure if it is just me that feel this way.

Re: Simplification
@ms. akkineni I agree with you, but I do think there is one problem with simplification. No matter how much work you put into making it simple there will still be people who refuse to learn it making the simplification a mute point...if that makes sense.
Re: Simplification
@afwriter:
Of course surely we will have to deal with that type of situations one way or the other. Simplifying something may start setting expectations for further simplification, typical human nature, isn't it? However i wouldn't focus or worry too much about that aspect as network simplification would add value.

Re: Simplification
I agree. I think, even though it’s important to keep moving forward with technology, that the need to make it simple enough for people to use and understand is super important.

@dlr5288 yes you are right... it remind me about days of the cloud begining where everyone talks about cloud but many did not have clear idea and understanding about cloud...

Great point! And the Cloud turned out to be a lot more complicated than a lot of people realized it would be..

I agree. Even though the Cloud can be confusing and have privacy issues it does have a lot of positives and I don’t think it’s going anywhere either.

I agree! I also think it’s better to learn and invest more time in the Cloud because I don’t see t going anywhere..
Re: Simplification
Absolutely. No doubt that there is strides of progress in technology. At the same times when it comes to consumer expectations, it's all back to basics. Consumer is expecting everything fairly simple and basic, easy to adapt.

Re: Simplification
And it’s important for companies to remember that. Sometimes I think they got lost in the new technologies that they don’t always remember that simple things work very well.
Re: Simplification
That is so true. It's great to see new development and improvement in technology. But the important thing to remember is not to ignore the basics. Any new trend shouldn't introduce complexity around simple needed things or ruin basics.

Re: Simplification
And once it’s simplified so many more people will want to learn about the product! Hence, more people buying into the product.
Re: Simplification
Absolutely, that is the hidden benefit. The trend now is 'back to basics'.

And it’s easy to get caught up in the super advanced technology. But to be able to simplify new technologies is what sets companies apart from the others.

Re: Simplification
I also thing a huge part of a product being “simple” is so customers can learn how to use it easily. So it becomes part of their every day routine.

Re: Simplification
@dlr5288 yes as in my books it should be simple way to use out of the box... not keep trying to serach on the internet as this day many Co. do get rid of manuals.... and in most cases it a product in the box and must watch youtube video how to use it ... new reality...

Re: Simplification
Completely agree! People definitely would rather look up a video than read the products manual. I’d like to know which one is truly more efficient though.
Re: Simplification
Absolutely, that is the key. Any such companies that focus on that key factor are here to stay much longer than the companies that just put their time and energy in inventing new things but not think much about how simple or complex that is.
Automation
Very informative Q&A.
It makes total sense to have a basic framework in common. That way all companies are expected to follow that so there is not too much deviation in basics. Of course i understand the need for customization and that can happen based on needs.

Re: Automation
@ms.akkineni - I almost think of it like carseats. I'm not sure how many of you have installed and uninstalled carseats in the last few years of so. But all carseats follow a very similar, basic prinicple. This allows for the adult to install and remove just about any brand of car seat, without having to pour over the instructions every time. This also means that all come apart (for cleaning) and go back together in relavtively similar ways. So that when a child gets sick, or spills something or whatever, taking them apart to clean also doesn't require hours of reading a user manual. If you're familiar with one, odds are, you can figure out another, same brand or model, or not. Personally, I think most everything we come into contact with today should be that. Allow for some changes based on proprietary decisions, but the basics are still there, and the same, all across the board.
Re: Automation
I can't agree more with you. You are absolutely right. There is no reason for reinventing the wheels. It has to be simple enough and similar to what you know of the product.

Open source has been infiltrated by corporate interests...
Several open source projects are now funded by various corporations -- who may be tempted to control the direction of these projects to support development of proprietary hardware (or vendor specific software functions). So open source is no longer a "feel good" solution for development that aims to open up technology to benefit the public good.
