Re: The Transformation Equation
@elizabethv Your mother sounds like an amazing woman with technology. I always thought opposites attract. But I guess not in your mother's and father's case.

Re: The Transformation Equation
I totally agree. It’s so inspiring to see a woman have so much power and really have the knowledge to create things in the technological world.

Re: The Transformation Equation
@srufolo1 - Yes, my dad is not at all technologically savvy. Not even a little. They are certainly two complete opposites. (Perhaps why their marriage didn't work?) I've seen my mom take apart and put back together more computers than I could ever count. She made sure we had a computer in our house early on, and as I was still fairly young, I was able to complete almost all of my high school homework using Microsoft Word  before it was ever required. It made sure I had a head start from others my age in being familiar with technology. But I completely agree with you, women in the technology field should definitely be celebrated.

Re: The Transformation Equation
@elizabethv More impressed I couldn't be about your mother, yet didn't you say your dad was not as technologically savvy? lol In what state does your mother work? I truly believe it when you say that women were the forerunners in this field. I used to work for a technology media firm who came up with Women of the Channel, to honor these women. When I worked as a copy editor, I was always floored at how knowledgeable our women writers were about technology. And they always wrote in an understandable way. In my humble opinion, their writing surpassed that of the men. Sorry if I sound a little biased.

Re: The Transformation Equation
@srufolo1 - I agree! The radio show (I too watched the video) was so inspiring! I grew up watching my mom work on computers, so seeing women in tech seems completely natural to me. She is in charge of the entire network at the school she works at. And it was actually women who initially were dominant in the field, until men pushed us out.

The Transformation Equation
Unfortunatey, I missed the radio show but I watched the video. It was inspiring to watch a woman CTO who started her own company talk about the importance of knowing the market trends. Understanding the market, technologies and surrounding yourself by "smart people" is also wise advice given by Catherine. Recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of employees is also important.

> "...she is a woman who ... is an inspiration to me."

It's certainly impressive to rise to such a level when the odds are stacked against. I look forward to the day, though, when such careers are not so unique. Sadly, we're not there yet.

Radio Show
This radio show should be enlightening. Being that she is a woman who has risen to this level in an industry typically associated with male dominance is an inspiration to me. I will definitely be tuning in.

Transformation discussion
I think it will be great to hear what new ideas or inventions or concerning something that interest them so hopefully people can take something from it to learn something new.
