Re: Comcast & AT&T Bonuses etc.
What happens next year when these companies don't give out the bonuses and keep all of that profit. The whole thing seems like a diversion to me.

@Ariella, I fully agree!  Too few see the value in "investing" in their human capital and simply try to gain as much short-term productivity gains as they can.

Re: Comcast & AT&T Bonuses etc.
@clrmoney, agreed - this should be a model.  But I am afraid that it may be select companies as opposed to a trend.

Excellent report, Mike.  I see AT&T as being unique in leading and investing in the future and in their employees; which may not be followed by other less successful companies.

I am also wondering if there isn't a business calculation as well that this may serve them well with the DOJ suit?

@clmoney so many companies are quick to say that their people are their most valuable resource but fail to literally put their money where their mouth is.

Re: Comcast & AT&T Bonuses etc.
@mhhf1ve I've gotten tax rebates (and I don't mean refunds) under the Obama administration. Also some of the credits that exist now -- like the ones for college tuition-- that may disappear within a year or two effectively reduce income tax a great deal. New York State has also set up some of its own rebates. I honestly don't understand where or why, but sometimes I do get a check out of nowhere for such government programs.  The real innovation in the tax code is not the promise of reduced taxes but a simplification of the ridiculously complex setup that we've been dealing with.

Re: Comcast & AT&T Bonuses etc.
This reminds me of the GWBush era tax rebates... I wonder if there are any objective economic studies on the effect of that stimulus. I suspect it would be very hard to separate out the effect and the effect of 9/11, though. Hopefully, we won't go to war under Trump....

Comcast & AT&T Bonuses etc.
You would think that more companies would do things like that because if they want to keep therie valuable employess for what they do all year around then their should be a little somehting extra to get at the end of the year to splurge for yourself. I also think that this is great that these companies are doing this as well as many others.
