<Sports fans will be delighted with 360 degrees virtual reality that includes the option to view footage from their preferred angle such as from a sportsperson's head-worn camera or a drone with a more panoramic view. They will also be able to switch streams from one sports arena to another with virtual reality.>
Full disclosure: I'm not a sports fan, so maybe that's why I have this question. Woud this work for the people viewing the gamein the stadium itself, or would they have to view on a device to get that kind of view?
Re: view
They will definitely need a device. If they want a personalized view, they will need to control what they see. This link shows some of it but not nearly as exciting as it is envisioned.

I should also mention haptics which makes it even more immersive wherein you actually feel what the sportsperson is

Re: view
@Kishore Thanks, haptics sound like quite a difference, moving beyond just watching. So would people who are going to events live also want to take a device along to get these extras? Has that happened yet that people at a stadium are also looking at screen -- not to tweet or text -- to get these additional views?
Re: view
You have to wear a special kind of clothing for that. Besides sports, remote sex is also possible, they also give you directions. There is a company in UK which does this a lot. I will try to retrieve its information. Meanwhile, have a look at this.

Re: view
Seems like Wearable Experiments has changed its website. It has videos for sports. The product seems to be still there although they appear now to focus on Yoga. The sports product is described here

@Kishore Those sound like good holiday gift ideas. Do they make one for the back, too?

In this instance I think the size and the weight of the devices are holding people back. When headsets become smaller and lighter who knows what will happen, we may have large groups of people standing around with TVs on their heads not talking to each other.

5G & Apps
I like this idea of 5G and apps because we need faster data speed as well as downloading and installing apps for personal or business use.

Virtual Reality and The Olympics
I think it is a little Ballsy for South Korea to be making plans before standards, but whatever I am not someone who usually tunes into the Olympics but a VR experience may have me intrigued.

Article
@Kishore Jethanandani, merci pour le super article. I learned some new things. How can South Korea offer 5G at the 2018 Winter Olympics if the technology has not been developed yet and won't be available until 2020? How close are they to reaching their goal?
Here's an article on South Korea's 5G initiative https://phys.org/news/2017-02-south-korea-olympics-5g-year.html
Re: Article
@freehe: Thanks for the compliments. The technology is ready but to commercialize it, you need standards and a whole lot more. At this point in time, there is a great deal of disagreement on viable use cases, the overall techno-economic viability of 5G given that the edge will be very significantly augmented and the cost of especially radio technologies is going to be enormous.

Micropayments
Why would anyone use micropayments for amounts less than $5 especially due to micropayment processor fees. Can you buy anything for less than $5? I don't see the value in using micropayment processors. You can save money by just going to a brick-and-mortar store and pay with cash.

Verticals
5G can be used in many verticals and can help each vertical expand such as banking, education, energy, financial, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing and government. Albeit industries such as manufacturing and the automotive industries will use robots to replace employees. Although the article states that some companies will use collaborative robotics since we live in a capitalistic society greed will probably take over and the collaborative robotics may not last very long because it will free up money to increase executive salaries.
Re: Verticals
@freehe: THe capabilities of AI and robotics are overhyped. The current algos are limited. A recent article in the Technology Review summed it well.
"There's a sort of reality distortion field that Hinton (the inventor of deep learning algorithms) creates, an air of certainty and enthusiasm, that gives you the feeling there's nothing that vectors can't do. After all, look at what they've been able to produce already: cars that drive themselves, computers that detect cancer, machines that instantly translate spoken language. And look at this charming British scientist talking about gradient descent in high-dimensional spaces!
It's only when you leave the room that you remember: these "deep learning" systems are still pretty dumb, in spite of how smart they sometimes seem. A computer that sees a picture of a pile of doughnuts piled up on a table and captions it, automatically, as "a pile of doughnuts piled on a table" seems to understand the world; but when that same program sees a picture of a girl brushing her teeth and says "The boy is holding a baseball bat," you realize how thin that understanding really is, if ever it was there at all." https://www.technologyreview.com/.../is-ai-riding-a-one.../

Latency
I am ready for 5G. I want content and web pages to download in one second no matter the level of network traffic. I woud love a latency of 3 milliseconds. 5G throughput speeds are almost 19 to 76 times faster than 4G LTE which is awesome.

Experience
5G has the potential to provide sports fan with a more interactive interesting experience when attending live sporting events such as the Olympics. To view footage from any angle is great because most attendees can only get views from certain angles or seats.
