Re: The Past Informs the Present
@Shaunn yes you are 100% right as the history must be taken in the account... as the way I see it - most of the times in any field including IT history tends to reapeat itself...

Re: The Past Informs the Present
There's definitely no end in sight. This is how IT works - it's a constant process of continual change.

Some people like that, and some people don't.

Re: The Past Informs the Present
I am assuming @Shaun by history you're referring to data & analytics--hence what Mr. McReynolds noted as "the living creature"--the question is, though, how to harness it ever more?

The Past Informs the Present
With technology applications and implementations becomeing so diverse, it's no surprise that the industry must become just as nimble. Using technology this way is relatively new, so clients and vendors will likely be on their toes for a while to get most out of it until there's more history to it.

Digital Alive and Staying
Maybe the digital world is alive when it comes to robotics and as it relates to the online world to make things easier in a way for us.  We use digital things like digital cameras, watches, cable etc. I'm sure that times goes on people will be more accepting to it and then you have some that just don't really care for it and that will never change.

Containers, wrappers, interoperability
Interesting that as industry begins to grapple with the standardization problem above the very low level mechanical, the wrappers have to get more and more complex because it turns out the choices of interfaces were not arbitrary and reflect considerable differences about just what each part of the overall system ought to do. So we end up with something of a container bottleneck, but for the best possible reason: the variety of structures that are needed reflects the variety of what systems are actually doing, not just a set of arbitrary engineer choices.

Solving the container problem will probably shed vast amounts of light over the whole field of business telecommunications.
