"Improve"
I selected "Targeted advertising"...but "improve" is a relative concept here. I don't want targeted advertising toward me to be improved. I don't want to be stalked. But it's all a matter of perspective.

All things being equal, I actually think AI has the potential to improve search and recommendation engines the most/the best. I strongly suspect cable companies and content providers will fail to take full advantage here, however. After all, Netflix used to have an all-powerful recommendation engine -- until the company decided that they could be far more profitable shoving a bunch of crap down our throat that it wants us to watch rather than making earnest and honest recommendations based on our preferences.

Re: "Improve"
I think "opt in" is an important part of targeted advertising. At one point the cable industry discouraged the use of "targeted" advertising; instead they wanted everyone to use "addressable" advertising.

Re: "Improve"
I also chose this option, I think it has to be. With how much content is being created through OTT now they are going to lose money on those original shows if they don't have a legitimate way to push people towards the shows that they will genuinely like.

The key question is Quality, though--and how this is going to evolve.

Re: "Improve"
@Joe - Lol, I didn't pick Targeted Advertising because of the word "improve." The only improvement on advertising that exists is non-existent advertising. I always opt for the 1 interactive ad over watching a bunch of commercials. Even though they get absurdly repetitious because they apparently only have a few interactive ads up their sleeves. I'd still rather click through an ad briefly than watch 4 of them drone on. I act like advertising never works on me, but last Friday my oldest son and I saw an ad for Red Robin. It no more than ended and he said, "We should go to Red Robin this weekend." And I said, "Yeah, I think we'll go on Sunday" .... and go on Sunday we did. Freaking advertisements. Targeted Advertisements will just bombard my kids with more toy ads than they already see. Which, thanks to cord cutting, isn't that many.

Recommendations and Personal Guides
I chose "Recommendations."  Given the popularity of people wanting the ability to just pick and choose our cable channels, versus just being forced to take 200+ channels of which we only watch 13. I think we all really just want the ability to watch what we want, when we want. Of course, series seasons seems to ruin that a bit. Otherwise I wouldn't be remiss over this John Oliver break I'm having to endure right now. I love starting my week out with John Oliver. A streaming service that could offer me a just as amazing alternative for these drab times, would be fantastic.

Re: Recommendations and Personal Guides
Recomendations are a lot more fun than network and bandwidth management, but the latter is crucial going forward with the increasing amounts of video on networks and in transit.
