Re: New verse for a familiar song
@mhhf1ve. I agree. Divan.TV will have to move towards advertising because eventually they will plateau in terms of growth and will have to find another way to generate revenue.

Re: Smart TV Collaboration
@afwriter, I agree since Divan.TV was a leader in the beginning. Other companies are not trying to catch up to Divan.TV and their success. The key is to get into a market at the beginning. Companies must be innovative. I think sometimes get lucky and sometimes they plan and implement properly like Divan.TV.

Kolodyuk
Kolodyuk uses a great approach to start Divan.TV. He did research and look at previous advice from industry experts. He knew how to analyze markets and was able to select the appropriate target market for his goals and was able to meet the market needs.

If only every company used this approach we would be able to get the products and services we want and need.

Divan.TV
In just eight years Divan.TV has grow to provide service in 200 countries and have 1.5 million users. I wonder what the revenue generated is from those numbers. They also have a large catalog with 200 live channels. This is super growth in just eight years. Anything is possible with the right vision, leadership and technology infrastructure.

Re: New verse for a familiar song
> "...the right advertisements can help attract people to your content (see, for example, the aspirational ads in The New Yorker, or some of the placement of "guy stuff" ads in sports broadcasts.)"

Exactly. Correctly targeted ads can almost go unnoticed and become a win-win for both the content distributor and the audeince. It's part of the success of Google -- as its search ads are almost always relevant to the searches that users are performing. Yahoo's search engines previous to Google's dominance were sullied by Paid Placement that allowed irrelevant ads to appear and make the overall experience worse. If only the same sort of thing could be done with video content... however, viewers tolerance for intrusive ads seems to be pretty low.
