Re: AT&T Embraces AI
@dir5288, I think that is what they have attempted to achieve in this co-venture.  If they build the capabilities with their AI partner, and deliver it through the platform they have been building, it may just provide the right elements.

They certainly get points for moving into new space and discovering what they need to know to succeed.  I also like their open source approach and invitation to groups to develop
"functional" standards.

Re: AT&T Embraces AI
@Michelle, as I understand it they are using a new technology, with their co-venture, and then developing the open forum on the AT&T platform that they have been building.  This may be a stroke of genius in building best-of-breed capabilities.

Their vision also fits their platform model, with virtual NFV, etc., to deliver new solutions and services.  I think it is a smart move.

Re: AT&T Embraces AI
I don’t think it’s quite ready either, but it’s a step in the right direction. I think a little more time and energy into this and AT&T will have something great.

Agreed! AI + secuity seems like a good bet for AT&T. We'll see if they actually make something useful with this early entry to the market...

@dcawrey I think you're right since it is supposed to use AT&T's Indigo platform, which isn't quite ready.

Re: AT&T Embraces AI
I guess the goal here is network optimization?

Doesn't suprise me AT&T has been working on this. However, I doubt that this product is really ready to help fully optimize networks.

Re: AT&T Embraces AI
True, but I think AT&T has the power to branch out and try different services. They’re big enough to try and fail and customers will stick around to see what’s next.

@clmoney:

Here is what i could envision myslef thinking about applying AI capabilities. I can automatically set a feature - calling my son's school telsafe line and report his absense or tardy with little configurations. This is what i can readily think at the moment.

@Michelle:

Agree with you. I think At&T is trying to make sure that they are not leaving any channels open. We are learning lately that they are getting to cyber security space. Now this effort is to get into AI. This is perfect timing to get into AI as the industry is trending towards AI capabilities in general.

Re: AT&T Embraces AI
@clrmoney it all depends on the A.I. technology and how it will be implimented as it could be a good or bad... some Canadian banks switch to A.I. technology for telephone banking and many times customers have to go in the branch to correct errors... even my wife have to see the bank manager twice to correct bill payment via telephone A.I.
