Re: Marketing & Sales
It makes sense. Digital is something that will benefit from a higher level executive that is able to put their focus & energy into it. If not a C-suite level positon, at least a Sr VP reporting to the CIO or CTO.

Re: Marketing & Sales
It's a different role when compared to CIO or CTO. Chief of Digital is taking a business and thinking about the transformation that needs to take place in order to compete in a technological world.

@dcawrey:

Absoluetly , well said !

At this digital transformational age, companies need to form digital strategy divisons, teams and then have all different level of leaders as you listed in your comment. I am aware some companies are on the way bringing that structure in place.

Re: Marketing & Sales
This is why companies need a digital leader. A head of Digital. A Chief Digital officer. I keep seeing these new roles, and I think the lack of leadership would be one reason why that is.

Absolutely, data analytics has become an important factor by giving key inputs to the strategy building process within organizations.

There is no doubt that technology is doing amazing things these days.

Re: Marketing & Sales
@ms.akkineni - I really like the idea of data and analytics helping leaders to make good business decisions to move the company forward. A friend of mine actually does this job now, and she really enjoys it. Technology is without a doubt an amazing tool.

Digital World is an option you choose or not
Digital Transformation can be mainly positive but most people are hip to it these days and some would not prefer the digital world. If they want to increase their leaders then they should go and find someone who is advanced in knowledge in the digital world.

There certainly is a fair chance and good possibility. The power of data and data analytics is proving to be very exceptional these days. That gives a good understanding of gaps from previous process and to come up with new measures for improvement.

Re: Leadership Issue
@elizabethv:

You are absolutely right in stating that we can't borrow much from the past in the filed of technology. But i must say previous experiences, mistakes, learnings all could play a role whenworking towards a new direction, new initiative.

About leaders: there surely is leadership, may not be the right leadership in all cases. Or there could be limitations that are adding some constraints to the power of decision making for those leadership folks. The one who steers the wheel effectively to pass thru all those constraints, limitations is the right one who will succeed.
