Re: SDN Controls Smart City Labyrinth
@faryl I would love to experience Dubai. People drive around in gold cars, not colored gold, but made of gold. It's so rich, they can afford to do anything. I wonder if they are more advanced than us technologically. I suspect they are.

Re: Controlling Smart Cities
I can also see a situation where the technological infrastructure necessary for smart cities is achieved, while the physical infrastructure (e.g., the actual roads, bridges, etc.) continue to deteriorate.

Re: Comprehensive Program
Agreed. It's a fine balance of regulating to promote privacy & safety, without impeding progress or putting too much power in the control of the government vs. its citizens.

Re: SDN Controls Smart City Labyrinth
I hear a lot of great things about Dubai too. I guess it's a benefit of it being so wealthy and being able to invest in infrastructure.

Re: Controlling Smart Cities
Great ground-level view.

We can talk about Smart Cities all day. But what's really needed is next gen infrastructure to get there. That's what municipalities need to focus on to get "smart".

Re: Controlling Smart Cities
@Kishore Jethanandani, I am not surprised. Companies are no longer customer-centric they are revenue centric and create strategies on how they can generate more revenue at a faster rate.

@afwriter, I agree with your assessment of Orange.  They appear to have the vision, leadership, infrastructure, etc., necessary to pull this off.  It really can be a transformative model.  I am voting on their success!
