I'm thinking Amazon is going to end up being the one who helps make it happen. I could see them trying something similar to the way they have the dash wand, Alexa, etc. to help encourage people to buy their products. They can justify offsetting the cost of hardware that might be similar to google glasses if it increases their sales volume.

I think there also wasn't enough 3D content, nor content compelling enough to give people enough of a sense of "FOMO" to be motivated to make that kind of investment.

@afwriter That's a good point. 3-D in & of itself isn't much of a value-add for content. Most content available in 3-D is pretty much just as good as without. Plus there wasn't that much content available in 3D to make it that worthwhile an expense.

I don't get sick, but it does make me feel a little anxious and nervous haha. I think it's something I can get used to though.

I'm pretty sure it will happen - i.e., VR will take off in some shape or form. The tricky bit is figuring out the timeline and specific applications: Will it be limited to productivity and gaming apps, or will it make it intersect with the TV experience? And if so, how substantially? And how will the mobile VR experience evolve? These are the multi-billion dollar questions we're all struggling with.

The whole VR experience just needs to improve. It's not there yet. It's not comfortable. 

If the tech world can succeed with the consumerization of VR, I'm all for it. It's likely an enormous opportunity.

faryl - that's an imp[ortant point that surprisingly doesn;t get mentioned a whole lot. Coming together to watch sporting events is a common event so every family needs to have "guest headsets" for visitors....at several hundred a pop, I can't see that becoming a widespread practice.

This is an excellent point. I think with 3D TVs though, another problem was that there was not enough value offered for the increased price. I think that exact reason is why people are watching VR/AR so closely is that it could be another big tech bust if there is not enough value added in the short run.
