Flexibility for Pay TV
We need a lot of flexibility whe it comes to Pay TV because there should be better alternatives like lower pay, better deals on the services to draw the customers in more.

It seems like they should have some sort of deals for the customers.  You will need alot of flexibility with Pay-TV Providers it seems.  Don't know why they don't have lower rates to offer to customers.

@dchampagne70, I fully agree!  And this poll reflects the strong point of the value of more flexibility and pricing options for customers (combined over 52%).  Whoever can open the door to greater benefit to the customer should unleash some pent-up demand for better options.

@dchampagne70, @DHagar,  It is very simple. All customers want is good service at an affordable price Unfortunately most companies have a different definition of "affordable" than their customers.

This graph perfectly shows what a tightrope service providers walk. We all want to have our cake and eat it too when it comes to TV (I'm no exception), it's amazing that they are doing as well as they are.

afwriter - it's not an easy business to be in, that's for sure. In some ways, I think running a business that generates high revenue but is losing market share is the worst position to be in, because it's very hard to know which basket to put your eggs in -- should you defend market share in the established business, which is what still pays your bills, or do you pivot to the new business, where revenues are limited and the long term future is uncertain?

@afwriter - You're right, we all have our own needs and wants when it comes to Pay-TV.  In my opinion, a big part of that is because they tend to cost us a lot of money. If you want $80 from me a month, I have expectations. Versus a service that is only $10 a month, I'm probably going to be a little more flexible. But then, Netflix makes me perfectly happy, and that's only $10 a month, so they manage. And really, anymore, that's what any pay-TV service is competing with - especially where my business is concerned.

Make it cheap, give me a lot of channels. That's all this viewer really needs. With so many service options, keeping it simple might be the smartest route.

How cheap?  It can't get cheaper than free?   On the news front, for instance, there are moves already--AL Jazeera; CBSN; SkyNews--but then what?  How does one value "free"?

I think this requires a delicate balancing act. Providers could become niche and target only younger views and eliminate TV viewing. However, they would lose a large amount of revenue in advertising.

I agree. I believe it's a balance. Reaching out to a younger audience is important. However, keeping maybe an older audience interested is equally crucial.

Cord-cutting has been occurring for years but it doesn't seem as though any provider has developed an effective solution to reduce cord-cutting. It would make sense to develop a plan to reduce cord-cutting. Do surveys and get feedback from customers on why they are cutting the cord and develop a solution around that.
