@clrmoney. I agree. OTT offers TV service for streaming and provides more choices for customers to watch video wherever they want whenever they want. This is really what customers want. OTT can capture customers in all age groups not just millennials.

..and to "launch" the w-end, some interesting read courtesy of the team over at Mashable...onward to the W-end...I like the caption , "...All the money has to go somewhere!!"--if only we had that kind of luxury :) :)

The 5 most expensive TV shows Netflix has made (so far)

Video is engaging, fun and enlightening--no doubt.  The question remains how to make sure it is delivered in a righteous way and avoid it being "irritating"--especially for entities like CNN et. al.

Sklar on Navingating Partnerships
It will be interesting to see what CenturyLink's OTT offering will be. Sklar also mentioned attaching broadband with video, which makes sense.

Re: Sklar on Navingating Partnerships
srufolo1 - Yes, I think that's a critical weapon in the arsenal of a service provider: the ability to bundle services. Customers get a single bill, a single customer care number -- you don't have to deal with the blame game, where the OTT provider blames the network and the network operator blames the OTT service, and the customer is left frustrated. And there's some pricing flexibility integrated into the mix, as you can make up on broadband what you discount on video, or vice versa -- if and when that makes business sense, that is.

Re: Sklar on Navingating Partnerships
Adi,

And there really is an economy for the operator, due to the nature of relational databases; it doesn't cost much more to bill a customer for several services than it does to bill a customer for one, and some of the aspects of communication are getting so cheap that billing and customer service are major cost lines on them. The single bill and call one number are convenient for the customer but they're really cheap for the operator!

OTT Revenue
Operators can use a mixture and the best option is to partner with an OTT service provider especially if they company does not currently provide OTT. Video is being monetized through bundles, revenue shares and advertisements especially on sites like YouTube that show videos prior to showing a viewer the video they selected to watch.
