Re: ATSC 3.0 Offers Compelling Features
srufolo1 - These features already exist on many pay-TV systems. Time Warner Cable (Now Charter) has a feature called Start Over, which allows you to go back to the beginning of a show if you come in late (provided the content provider allows it). And they are not the only ones. Also any DVR will allow you to rewind and fast forward any channel you are watching, and most pay-TV providers offer them.

The issue is cost -- you would need to be paying your cable operator a certain amount per month to qualify for some of these features, while ATSCE 3.0 could offer them for free.

Well, potentially, anyway.

Re: ATSC Features
clrmoney - I certainly think broadcasters are keen to get their hands on some of these new technologies, but I have to wonder if partnering with pay-TV providers or OTT providers may not be the easier and more effective option for them in the long run.

That, to my mind, is the challenge for ATSC 3.0 -- that the advantage of free service is not compelling enough, or the technology just arrives too late, to address a large enough market. And broadcasters just end up using pay-TV networks or the Internet to offer the same features and functions to their consumers.

ATSC 3.0 Offers Compelling Features
This article explains ATSC 3.0 so that it is understandable. Consumers are hesitant to purchase new technology if they do not fully understand how it will improve their lives. This standard has many attractive features, including starting a show from the beginning after it has already started, and being able to fast-forward or rewind to any scene of a show or sporting event (something I have always wished I could do).

ATSC Features
The ATSC has some feature that would be interesting for us like watching your favorite shows ,zooming in on camera angles etc. So I think this wil be something more added to this to make it better in a way.
