BT
BT experienced some challenges. It is great that they have decided to use 4K which will hopefully help them overcome past challenges and save mooney and increase revenue.

Re: Love 4K
@Adi that is interesting to note. I wonder if the human body will ever adapt to VR or if it will always cause this sort of disorientation and sickness.

Re: Love 4K
afwriter -- I think that is likely to be a common response. If you look at TDC's Clara Mai Kunstmann's comments, she said viewing VR for long stretches had a neurological impact:
<In fact, at the South by Southwest (SXSW) event this year, a neurologist talked about it. He said it was good that people were looking at VR, but the human brain can't comprehend VR for more than 35 minutes. It gets disoriented, gets motion sickness.>
Most football games are over a hundred minutes, if you add in injury time and a few minutes of analyst discussion, interviews etc.

Re: Love 4K
I can see the value of both, but I think I'd rather try the VR experience once, then go back to watching my football the way that I usually do.

Re: Love 4K
I think the challenge for them is viewership. On TV's less than 60 inches, it's questionable that most viewers see a difference between 4K and HD. Without HDR and other features like WCG and HFR, its hard to get viewers to really value a UHD feed.

Re: Love 4K
It's an interesting point -- I think some people love being at the stadium and being a part of the event in that way. But I personally prefer watching sports on a TV -- you have the benefit of replays, statistics, close-ups. I feel you see a lot more that way, and are actually more "immersed" in the sport itself.

Re: Love 4K
This is totally worth doing.
Sports fans love feeling like they are at the game without all of the nuisances involved with being at the stadium. And they are willing to pay for that.

Love 4K
The BT needed huge bandwidth and some many other things like UHD lenses etc. I think 4K is a huge asset for them in a way.
