CenturyLink on Simplifying the Path to Virtualization
This a great article becaus evirtualization is the next great generation and the greatest thing happening. I also think if they put more effort in the virt they will be even more popular with the technology they have. So i would imagine with the technology they have now it will be awsome to see what they have in the future with the specs and gigs then.

@JohnBarnes, Oh that IS good!

Recently it has been stated that education is the new capital asset for individuals.  I hope we take that message to heart and expand the understanding that result is from what we do, not just what we desire!

DHagar,

On the luck and opportunity question, I usually bear in mind the view of Mr. Dooley (Finley Peter Dunne's wonderful creation; maybe the greatest character in all of American political satire. For nonAmericans or Americans whose literary education missed him, the fictional Mr. Dooley was an Irish bartender in Chicago; the heyday of FPD's humor column was about 1890-1900, i.e. one of those other times when American politics was dominated by people who thought the market would fix everything because it had made them rich):

@JohnBarnes, well very true.  But they also say that "Luck is preparation for opportunity", so maybe there is some design and skill as well.  But I do believe that applications and the way people adopt to technology can be as much a part of the solution as the design; particularly in these transformational time periods.

DHagar,

Yep. One of many fascinating things about this point in history: huge numbers of things are being set for all time, by a process that probably is turning on random minutiae that we don't necessarily even see.

@JohnBarnes, great points!  You are correct, any avenue becomes the pathway of choice - as opposed to the "perfect solution".

To your point about CenturyLink, I believe they represent the possibility of being the first, and by default preferred, provider.  They offer the complete platform that will enable them to offer packages and services that will make them a leading platform.  You won't need multiple platforms; the others will becomes spokes on the hub.

Re: Centurylink more virtual as times goes on.
DHagar,

Possibly a model of success or maybe just a model of what there is. When moving forward is as urgent as it is for so many telcos with respect to virtualization, the first thing that works at all well is likely to become the dominant paradigm for a long time (even if some other things are actually better or have more open pathways).  The telcos need some model of virtualizaton to win, so one of them, possibly CenturyLink's, will win. It would be nice if it were the actual best way, but this is one of those cases where pretty good right now beats perfect tomorrow.

@Ariella, I think that is exactly what it will do.  And not only new models, but competitive services that truly attract other providers to change their models to gain customers.

@dcawrey, as I understand what CentryLink is doing, it appears to be a new model of an entire ecosystem that enables them to provide a platform and new service delivery options - with the application of virtualization.

This may be the model for success going forward?

@dcawrey yes, perhaps it can serve as a positive example for others.
