Re: Snap Chat Maybe
@freehe They aren't even profitable now. And all of the company's infrastructure is on Google.

I know they have a rabid userbase - that helps. Remember, no one though Facebook could become profitable. Including me. So I think it's hard to predict demise here.

Snap Chat Maybe
I do not think they will continue to be profitable. They are too many other platforms to use that provide the same or similar features. They are not an industry leader.

Re: Consider the source
@dmendyk, good point. I don't believe the numbers. I have never heard anyone or seen anyone on social media talking about SnapChat or saying let me check my Snapchat account. LOL!

Re: Snap growth
@mpouraryan, I think they are getting ahead of themselves. They should have taken the $3B offer. That was a once in a lifetime offer. They are not being realistic. They could have used the $3B to create another company to do something similar or something else.

Re: Consider the source
@afwriter, I agree. I don't think SnapChat will be around in 5 or 10 years or it will be bought by Google or some other company and then disappear.

Re: Consider the source
@dcawrey, I agree. No company ever became a visionary or innovative company by piggybacking off of another company. Maybe they are afraid of failure or lack the skills and resources needed to stop piggybacking. Also, I wonder how long Google will let them continue piggybacking?

Re: Consider the source

I still think at some point Snap is going to want to have its own infrastructure. It doesn't make sense to piggyback off of Google. If this company really wants to be a tech player, it's going to have to build its own stuff if you ask me.

@afwriter:

I see your perspective and thoughts. But i would hold on more time to comment on how things will shape up in future for Snapchat.

Re: Snap growth
They've got to be profitable--or at least do the "Amazon route" by at least showing they're making progress--the verdict is still out--although I think they've got what it takes--and turning down Facebook's 3 Bil offer was quite audacious!! :) :)

Re: Consider the source
I would not be pessimistic just yet--as the technology is still gaining traction.    What is clear, though, is that people are taking a gamble to invest it in primarily due to the very challenging ownership structure.
