Re: Orange Public Cloud
@freehe - You are exactly right about companies storing the specifics of customers files in their network. This kind of information needs not only a large storage capacity, but also security. Last year it seemed like every time we turned around another big company had been hacked and was working with their clients to resolve the issue. It's happened so frequently lately that I've always had some kind of Identity Theft protection, as least for the last few years - for free from a company that was hacked. They tended to overlap quite nicely and it's worked out well for me.

It is great that Orange is partnering with Huwaei. They are both great companies and technology leaders. It should result in a great partnership and outcome.

Orange Public Cloud
It is great that Orange is helping companies migrate their legacy applications. Many banks and older companies still use legacy applications. I am curious to know the ROI and the total amount of money, if any will be saved by these companies moving to a public cloud.

Also, how will they determine which corporations should be migrated to a public cloud because many companies such as banks, financial institutions, utility companies, industrial companies and credit bureaus store millions of records for customers and need to use a private cloud for storing customer data.

Re: Also a strong gain for Orange in experience base
ElizabethV,

Market intelligence, like fresh produce, should be harvested and used ASAP, while it is still fresh and diverse. It has a similar shelf life.

Re: Also a strong gain for Orange in experience base
@JohnBarnes - You're right, Orange is really getting ahead of the curve on this one and making themselves a leader. This can do nothing but help them not only gain strength and momentum now, but power down the line when others fall in line to follow suit. They will be the company others look towards to emulate.

Orange Debuts Public Cloud Offering
Orange, no doubt, will add to its bottom line with this service as enterprises are eager to tap into the public cloud, and they will get the extra benefit of Huawei's OpenStack.

Also a strong gain for Orange in experience base
Right now, while there's not nearly the big rush to convert legacy systems that there probably will be later, is the time to launch an initiative like this. Within a few years Orange will have a large number of people (and data collections) that record what sort of legacy systems are out there and probably some common patterns in them, and right now the sample is still highly representative. Latecomers won't have time to learn and will also be learning from a less and less representative sample.
