I am not surprised that it is very competitive in China. Their education system is competitive. I am sure competition is in a lot of other areas in the country.

China
China is a global leader in technology and implement products and services that are not yet available in the U.S. Using open source proves that they want to remain a global leader in technology.

China Matters
I am surprised that China is interested in open source when they have such strict guidelines and frequently replicate products and services and sell them at a lower price.

Interesting I definitely did not realize that, but you're right! A lot of the shipping from websites like that from China are free!

Re: Open Daylight for China
batye,

And yet again, the more open a system is, the more diffuse and diverse the eyes watching it are. If only six people are supposed to be able to look at the code for UltimateWeaponApp, a seventh person can take it over or turn it off easily, once s/he has access. If instead we have OpenWeaponApp where everyone is tinkering constantly, the introduction of a Trojan, a worm, or a backdoor has almost no chance to pass unnoticed.
