The Cloud, the Change & a New Culture
This article is very interesting and well done and well explained about the cloud. I really think the cloyud will be well explained with the technology within the next year. The cloud is one of the most well secured technology serer out the i believe.

Re: Cloud looking to the future
Yes, that's what I was thinking was holding IoT up. Having the security keep getting hacked and messed up has been a huge set back.

Re: Cloud looking to the future
I agree. Some part of me feels like we should have been further along in new devices. But I am glad at where we are today with technology. I would rather it be done right and take longer than bad quality for a quick solution.

@JohnBarnes, I am familiar with that environment as well.  That makes great sense and is an excellent alignment and application of the cloud.  That will truly provide a solid business case and add informational dimensions to the data.

Great concept and design!

@dcawrey I agree with you -- I thought much the same when IoT was very new a few years ago. Did you consider security a paramount issue back then? I did, but hadn't entertained the idea of a zombie botnet at the size we've seen.

Re: Cloud looking to the future
I have to say, when we all started talking about IoT years ago, I don't think I would have thought we'd be where we are at today.

I really thought things would move faster. That didn't happen, but what did was that technology has utterly dominated the products we use today. Think about GE and how they are transforming into a tech company. And the auto companies too. It's pretty fascinating.

Re: Cloud looking to the future
DHagar,

Maybe it's just because I just came from doing some exercises in learning to use a relational database/EDA tool for big data, but it does seem to me that another use for the cloud is going to be providing a very large number of relational tools, so that the data generated in IoT can be contextualized and defined as needed.  The local and granular IoT will gain immense value by being instantly linkable to the global and relational cloud.

Re: Cloud looking to the future
@Adi, interesting thought line!  Actually I see that as complementary - creating an extended "virtual" environment.  This reinforces the advantages of new platforms that become gateways to new configurations and uses of technology (including SDN and NFV) that are scalable and support an open environment for DevOps.  I see that environment as truly being the transformative driver into a fully networked system.

DHagar - what are your thoughts on Fog computing or distributed cloud computing? Do you see that as a parallel development to IoT, complementary or unrelated?

Re: Cloud looking to the future
@Adi, thanks.  The other area I see that can advance the use of cloud will be as a host for granular (ie IoT) data points to bring together and then to apply analytics as a central fusion point.
