Re: A combination platter...
After the Linux Foundation started gobbling up other projects last year, I haven't seen too many big updates. Perhaps the consolidation was a sign of deteriorating support and/or enthusiasm? Or maybe these technologies are just starting to mature at the same time, and the development phases are just naturally slowing down. Anyone else here have a better ear to the ground?

@mhh I don't suppose anyone has seen updates on just that, have they?

Re: A combination platter...
The Linux Foundation definitely has the reputation and branding to inspire confidence in an open source project. But the question is whether the players involved will want to actually be controlled by the Linux Foundation?

I think that The Linux Foundation is the leader but ETSI, the TM Forum and IEEE can also provide value.

Re: A combination platter...
If we look to biology as a guide for healthy ecosystems, it's definitely good to see a handful of open source communities instead of just a single working group trying to decide everything.

@mhhf1ve there is something healthy about preventing a monolith, though you also do have to consider the advantages of some uniformity in terms of standards.

Maybe I'm wrong, but has there ever been a multitude of open source communities that voluntarily agreed to merge down into a single community? Usually, it goes the other way -- and niche communities just continue to fork until something better comes along.
