Re: Internet
There's at least one old-school newspaper that's doing well -- and only has a minimal internet presence -- the 100-yo French paper, Le Canard Enchaine.

I'm not sure what publication could start today in the US and maintain Le Canard's popularity, though. It's like a print version of the Daily Show? Maybe if John Oliver had a print edition of Last Week Tonight?

Re: Social Media/Video Growth
Yes! YouTube and its ads...I'm a big YouTube fan and I use it almost daily, but I can't stand the constant disturbance of ads. Sometimes it'll cut my video in half just to show a commercial..

Re: Internet
I get that I'm pretty much the same way, but I think some people just don't know how to use the internet to find what they want and think it's easier to buy a newspaper or magazine.

Social Media/Video Growth
In the olden days, that is all you saw were newspapers and magazines everywhere you go.  As of today, you do still see newspapers, but maybe not as many as the past.  So with the magazines, they may still be somewhat popular but you only see a few up at the checkout lines in the grocery stores.  If I want to read a magazine I read it online.  That way I don't get clutter all around and it is just easier.

The only other part is that I really don't like about Youtube is the annoying advertisements. I predict that 2017 the internet will grow bigger and better and will continue to do that in the years to come.

Internet
I am still surprised the people buy print newspapers and magazines. I assume many elderly do but what about everyone else. I get tired of all the clutter and would rather read the news online.

Social Media and Video Growth
I believe the stats on social media and online video revenue. I can't watch a Youtube video or read a post on Facebook with seeing an annoying ad.

Re: Social Media and Video
There is no question the "revolution" will continue on a strong and vibrant basis.   The challenge is one of sustainblity as @Adi underscores that the growth will be "flat" year to year--it is going to be a shifting of the "numbers".     But here is the thing:  When Twitter is getting into the game too, then you know there is something there!! :)

Re: Social Media and videos online
@dcawrey - No, I don't think ad space on the internet is an issue anymore. Lol. I'm actually a little fed up with the ads in the middle of my newsfeed on Facebook, but I guess it's the price I pay for having free Facebook. That said, I never give them more than half a glance, realize it's an ad and just keep scrolling. And I'm sure I'm not the only one doing that, so I'm not sure how profitable they are. But I guess pointing that out might lead to more obnoxious ads, like questions they want me to answer or something. And I feel like clickbait articles are at an all time high. I wish we could find a way to make those illegal....
