Re: democratic process
@JohnBarnes: Indeed, if we're talking technology, I had a gas stove until recently -- so "fire" might put me over the top.

Oldest actual device or device that has existed the longest time? I have a couple of knives in my kitchen drawer, and the "knife" concept has been around for a while ...

@Mike Thank you for taking time to read all our silly submissions! I think the old technology photo contest sounds good.

Re: democratic process
@Mike, I like the results - but it must be lots of work!  I would imagine that by the time you finished you saw little humor in anything - it was drained!

Trust your judgment.  It's hard to keep those creative juices at such a high level!

Re: democratic process
As much as I enjoy reading all of the entries, it's so hard to pick the nominees or winners. It was great when John Klossner, the cartoonist, helped out. I usually read all of the captions two or three times over a few days. Humor shouldn't be work, so I read them when I don't feel pressed for time.

Going forward, one of the moderators suggested we have a contest on posting the oldest technology/device a person owns or still uses. I'm thinking about that for next month, or we could do another cartoon caption contest. Thoughts?

Re: democratic process
Thanks to those who enjoyed my humor. :-)

Haha, @Joe - I have to think we might fair just a little bit better if the electoral proces was left to random.org. Some days it feels like that's how the system seems to be working anymore anyway....

Re: democratic process
@John: Certainly!  I think that that sort of humor is rarely done well (at least from what I have seen).

Your entry, of course, was the rare example of it being done quite well.
