Re: Cheaper Security
Exactly! And consumers are so invested in security so they're always looking for the newest best thing.

Re: Cost Savings
@elizabethv:

You are absolutely right about what will happen to the savings. Rerouting them into new innovations is very good and promising, while CEO's pockets getting heavier is something that is beyond our control.

Re: Cost Savings
@ms.akkineni - You're right those are huge savings. It would be nice to see if they can actually deliver on that goal. Of course, even if it's true, it's not like the companies are all that likely to actually pass the savings on to the consumer, the money will just be re-allocated to another section of the business. Perhaps in the form of a bonus to the CEO. Nonetheless, the savings and possibilities are very promising.

Cheaper Security
Whatever options they have available for security is great which will make more customers interested in or want to buy security software or something.

@Faryl:

Agreed, these are the real concerns that customers need to gain confidence with security model of the cloud provider.

Re: Cloud Security
DDoS attacks are getting more creative/challenging now too. I read recently that some hackers used the IoT to access cameras, then used the cameras to bombard the target with large image files.

Cost Savings
We've had some customers say they spend upwards of $1,000,000 a year per site. Those are pretty heavily dense security environments. We believe in some of those sites we can reduce their cost anywhere from 30% to 50% and in some cases up to 70% a year.

These are great savings.

Appreciate if someone can share who are the customers that are already using this.

Dedicated Firewall
 So each customer gets a dedicated instance of a next-generation firewall, but it's virtualized. It's on our backbone so the costs are dramatically less. They don't have to provide staff.

Dedicated firewall - this is really great. And the cost is dramatically less - sounds even more interesting.

All we need to wait and see is how effective this would be, when someone can store their success stories in future.

Cost
the impetus of that service was complaints we were hearing from around the world about the rising costs of security, specifically the rising cost of next-generation firewalls.

Cost is ceratinly a factor something customer need to think hard and long before making the right choice. With this built in integrated approach this is something that customer doesn't need to spend time or cost as long as the quality is assured.

Cloud Security
Level 3's idea -- which is part and parcel of the cloud concept -- is to offer flexible, sophisticated security and let customers focus on their core businesses.

Wow, what a great concept, much needed. This certainly makes Cloud concept more saleable. This integrated approach is really flexible and makes customers to not think about an additional factor of security and how to integrate that with their cloud.
