Re: going strong
It is great that Tivo is getting an overhaul.

"Ericsson's MediaFirst TV platform would be integrated with Google's Android TV." This is exciting. Can't wait to see what other innovations they create in the future.

IBC 2016
This is why standards are so important. They used standards from IABM, IEEE, IET, RTS, SCTE and SMPTE. If only all US companies, collaborations, committees, focus groups, etc. created quality standards and actually used them, the sky is the limit.

New Satellite!
Am I the only one excited about the new satellite designs! The flower one was awesome! I'd almost be inclined to think about getting dish back if I could have a big flower on the side of my house. (Cue: My husband rolling his eyes.) Also, really enjoyed the joke about the indeterminate liquid waiting for coffee. :-) Thanks for the pics and the update!!

Re: going strong
@Mike Yes, I agree that contributes to its success. As Mike Crimp said in his interview with TT, they made a conscious decision to look beyond broadcast and pull in OTT and pay-TV and that is probably helping now.

But part of it is also good parentage - IBC was set up by pretty much every standards body associated with the TV and radio business - IABM, IEEE, IET, RTS, SCTE and SMPTE. So that ensures that the bulk of the industry has a stake in it.

Lastly, I think some shows just become too big to fail (nobody bring up Supercomm here, pls). IBC has become the destination for the entire media industry in Europe and increasingly its pulling people from other parts of the world too. Wherever else we go, IBC is kind of a must-do event.

going strong
Nice pics by you and Iain. It seems as though while most shows/conferences have a shelf life, IBC continues to prosper. But from one of Adi's previous stories, they've done a good job of adapting to changes in technology and viewing habits.
