Re: Broadband Forum Debuts
Yes, good points. I'm always excited when I can get things fact and easy. I think that's how a lot of consumer are today with products. As long as they work properly, it's nice to get them in a timely manner.

Broadband Forum Debuts
This is very exciting. This changes how data can be accessed and stored.

Anything to help companies save time and money and provide better services as a faster ate is great. Hopefully companies will create customized or a la carter packages for customers that they actually want.

Hopefully the increased revenue will allow companies to pass the profit to shareholders and customers.

update
Traded some emails with Robin and got an update to some questions on this new spec:

MR: How long has the Broadband Forum been working on this spec? RM - probably took two years. Scoping the work took a little time as virtualized services are still very new.

MR: As it moves forward, do you need to work with ETSI or any other groups? RM - some members are pursuing some work with groups like ONOS on integrating 317.

MR: So by moving services and functions to the cloud, it will be a cheaper gateway, right? RM - that is one idea. But, maybe more important is the idea that you can deploy new services much faster.

Will the diagnostic tool be TR-O69 based? (I see where TR-069 is mentioned at the end of the release) RM - yes.

MR: It's NFV because its replacing hardware-based network functions, what is the SDN angle, if there is one, on this spec? RM - I think of this being more an SDN project.
