Re: Verizon's Map for VNS
@dcawrey, great focus!  That is the true value today, not the functionality - as you point out - but the added value it provides the user in using and/or benefiting from the service.  That is where the markets are won!

Re: Verizon's Map for VNS
Interesting read. I think a lot of the flexibility we're seeing in today's networks isn't really noticed at the user level. That's a good thing, because it means the system is working as intended.

Users only care when the network isn't working. As long as the data pipe flows like water, everything is good. This is what virtualization at the network level enables.

@Ariella, thanks!  That will fit well and support mhhf1ve's recommendation for development of pay-as-you-go.

Verizon services
I like the ones she use for the 30 markets she uses for wireless services that would make thigs easier in a way out of the three models.

@mhhf1ve @dhagar yes, Lonker said that the cloud model for as-a-service is behind this, which suggests we can see transformations in telecoms evolve even more as cloud services advance.

@mhhf1ve, absolutely!  That has certainly worked for generating movement to the cloud.  That is a good model that can actually create new markets as well.

Re: Verizon's Map for VNS
The "pay-as-you-go pricing" pricing strategy is an interesting move for enterprise services. This should allow for some experimentation with virtual CPE -- letting some folks dip a toe into the water before committing to a full program and investment.

Re: Verizon's Map for VNS
Great interview.  I think Verizon is demonstrating their excellent understanding of the communications networks in designing new solutions for the customers that maximize the value of virtualization and networks.  It clearly provides them with a greater flexibility and customer options that can be adopted to the evolving customer needs.

If they stay on top of this and continue to deliver against this vision, it should serve them well and make them a strong competitor.
