Re: Hmm. Surprised..
@dcawrey, I agree Salesforce can be a growing player.

I am working with IBM and see their ability to be a leader as the result of the platforms and infrastructure as service models plus their analytics applications through the cloud, plus new Watson services.

Great report, Mike!

Re: Who on top
@batye it's purely digital currency. Unlike digital transactions we make that refer to other currency, the digital entity is the currency itself. We would need something like that if there is ever to be a univeral form of currency, though it may well not be bitcoin.

@batye you do? It didn't seem to register for many people over here. Are you an avid follower of Bitcoin?

Interesting to see Salesforce here. I think they have the ability to break into the market as a real player, and not just as a SaaS provider. They have the organizational capacity to make it happen, the only real question is whether they have the technical chops to make it so.

@mhhf1ve intersting idea. It reminds me of Seasteaders whose goal was to built floating communities.

Re: Who on top
The regulatory issues surrounding how data is stored and how the privacy laws affect where the data *should* be stored is a major issue that could get more datacenters built in the EU. The idea that datacenters could be located "anywhere" might be a obsolete strategy.

Microsoft's efforts to develop a datacenter that operates at sea (Project Natick) might need to be deployed closer to shore, so that the jurisdiction of law is clear.
