Re: Open ROAD Community
Impressive leadership by Huawei in setting this up. The objectives, the commitments, and the leadership they are providing is key. This is what it takes to truly transform the industry and form new cooperatives and collaboration; which is required to meet the current and future challenges.
I believe we will see Open ROADS as a viable entity years from now, with the foundation that is being built.
Excellent info.

Looks to me like cooperation for its own sake
And cooperation for its own sake is not at all uncommon in the modern business world. Very logical of Huawei to locate it in Asia and in a city-state with a large overseas-Chinese tech community: i.e. outside the competition-oriented Anglosphere, the regulation-obsessed Euro market, and emerging competitor India. If you want your local party scene to think you're great and respect your views, there's no better strategy than paying for some really great parties!

Re: Open ROAD Community
This is all about turning challenges into opportunities, that's for sure. I think Huawei also benefits as a solution provider that can take the problems discussed in forums like this and creating products and services to meet the demand. It really makes a lot of sense for both vendor and customer.

Re: Open ROAD Community
@dcawrey, well said. And Huawei appears to understand the true value in creating such an ecosystem. As the visionary, sponsor, and supplier, they are enabling these solutions to develop. Smart move.

@JohnBarnes, they do understand the value of influence, don't they? And excellent insight about selecting single-influence environments as a place to begin.
Yes, the old marketing techniques still work!

DHagar, I think the old techniques of influence are pretty much what makes us human; I'm not sure any really new technique has been invented, or any old technique really abandoned, since history began.

Re: Looks to me like cooperation for its own sake
@JohnBarnes, great insight and I believe you are correct. In actuality, I believe that is why some of the older cultures have an advantage - they have a better perspective on history.
This reminds me of the book "Sarum", where we just keep evolving people, but the fundamentals remain the same.

Open ROADS Meeting
It is great that they are committed to the iniative and are providing key leadership in the effort. If only all companies followed this approach.
Forms partnerships and collaborations are the key to expanding in any industry which is why many mergers and acquisitions are successful when properly implemented.
This will allow them to address and properly handle any issues in the future.

Re: Open ROADS Meeting
@freehe, yes, Huawei not only has the vision but the leadership and the ability to execute. They have the whole package.
I agree fully that collaboration and partnerships are key. It would be great to see them win. Maybe they will raise the bar?
